    What makes a good neighbor?

    1. You rarely hear them;

    2. They never need to borrow anything;

    3. They are nosey – only when it counts;

    4. They read all your posts, they share them, they engage and get others to engage and follow you because they know you’re a newcomer and need help to get your blog running – they’ll be supportive even if after 6 months – to a year it’s a failed blog.

    5. They will see your typos and tell you. I literally just saw 2, that happens ALL the time I find errors after I submit – ugh!!

  • When was the first time you really felt like a grown up (if ever)?

    When was the first time you really felt like a grown up (if ever)?

    1. Paid my first bill;
    2. Received my first speeding ticket;
    3. The day I was holding the sweetest creation I made, my daughter, I raised her up just above my head and she began to drool (just a tad) as she smiled and I didn’t flinch – my dad looked at me and said, “…you’re just gonna let her drool in your mouth…” all three of us smiled!
    4. Realizing my value and self-worth is more important than fixing you;
    5. When I discovered that there was joy and peace in letting go vs. holding on – then discovering the box was empty;
    6. Open the door WIDE when people walk out of my life,  smile at the good times, gently close the door, get a snack, watch a good Netflix movie, and carry on…
    7. Having conversations with God…

    What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

    Get up, thank God for another day, turn on the local news, make coffee, get ready for work.

    It’s the simplicity for me…

    What job would you do for free?
    What a great question!  My dad said to me, “…when you get up in the morning and you have to think twice about going to work – it’s time to quit.”
    While in high school I thought about being a teacher; only because I was driven by (1) not working any weekends; (2) not working on any of the Federal Holidays; (3) not ever working overtime.  As you can see not one reason for opting to teach had anything to do with actually teaching or any emotions for the “love” of children learning – on that note I wasn’t interested in watching children grow.  Years later I found myself substituting and fell in love the very first day. The pay scale is a long way from my six-figure job in healthcare, but smiles, and watching a disruptive student become hungry for knowledge – this is a job I would do without pay.

    What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?

    Figure Skating!

    For the historian in you:

    Skating across the ice dates back to early northern Europeans, who would use carved rib or shank bones strapped to their feet in conjunction with poles to glide across the ice and snow. But figure skating has roots in the United States, too; Jackson Haines, born in New York in 1840, capitalized on a dancing and skating craze in the leadup to the Civil War. Being the ballet master he was, he transformed skating from a leisure activity with rigid movements to a balletic competition sport that is seen today.

    Personally:

    In my hometown, ice skating was a “fun time” to hang out with my girlfriends from junior high school. I was not very good at skating – never thought about lessons, I simply went for the camaraderie and I would pretend to float effortlessly across the rink, with one major concern! DO NOT FALL AND GLIDE ACROSS THE ICE.

    Little kid in a small town
    I did my best just to fit in
    Broke my heart on the playground, mm
    When they said I was different

    Oh now, now I’m all grown up, and nothing has changed
    Yeah, it’s still the same
    It’s a hard life on easy street
    Just white painted picket fences far as you can see
    If you think we live in the land of the free
    You should try to be black like me
    Wow, today I was able to virtually take a moment and live a dream…

    What activities do you lose yourself in?

    Lately, I’m obsessing over watching the political news clips on #YouTube I’m no longer interested in watching the full hour, I just want to hear the main points. I am clearly – clear as mud! truths have been disclosed about Fox and #StopTheSteal – folk are still claiming tRump run. Marjorie is incapable of doing ANY due diligence, and had no problem disseminating ridiculous information. MTG and Boebart actually called Twitter in to discuss their PRIVATE Twitter accounts. Matt Gaetz actually used a magazine as his source document. If Desantis thinks for 1 second that he won the fight with Mickey – he’s sadly mistaken, the other day he was pro-Black with education, just a few hours later he comparing #BLM protest to the mandate to stay inside – at this point what is the fight about – it will not bring our loved ones back that died from Covid. So yea I have submersed myself in YouTube Political Quick Shots of #WhatsHappening While You Were Sleeping. OOOhhhh I think that will be my next post title. Have a great day and a better one tomorrow.
