What Is The 2025 Mandate?
The 2025 presidential transition project, also known as project 2025, is an initiative organized by
the heritage foundation with the aim of promoting a collection of conservative and right-wing
policy proposals to reshape the united states federal government and consolidate executive
power should donald trump win the 2024 presidential election. The project asserts that the
entire executive branch is under the direct control of the president under article ii of the u.s.
Constitution and the unitary executive theory. It proposes reclassifying tens of thousands of
federal civil service workers as political appointees, in order to replace them with loyalists more
willing to enable trump’s policies. In doing so, proponents argue that the change would
dismantle what they view as a vast, unaccountable, and mostly liberal government bureaucracy.
The project seeks to infuse the government and society with christian values. Critics have
characterized project 2025 as an authoritarian, christian nationalist plan to steer the u.s. Toward
autocracy. Many legal experts have said it would undermine the rule of law, the separation of
powers, the separation of church and state, and civil liberties.

What is the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB)?
CPB is a private, nonprofit corporation authorized by Congress in the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967. It is the steward of the federal government’s investment in public media. It provides funding support to more than 1,500 local public television and radio stations that ensure universal access to free, high-quality, innovative, and diverse content that educates, informs, and strengthens our nation’s civil society.
In addition, CPB funds researched-based educational resources for our nation’s youngest learners, local news and information for communities throughout the country, and essential infrastructure for our nation’s emergency alert system.
What is the difference between CPB, PBS, and NPR?
CPB is the largest single source of funding for public radio, television, and related online and mobile services. Its funding provides the “public” part of the public-private partnership. By design, it’s not the only source: Public media’s strength is that its funding comes from many sources including individuals, businesses, non-profits, educational institutions, and local and state government. PBS is a private, nonprofit media enterprise owned by its member public television stations. PBS distributes programming to approximately 350 locally controlled and operated public television stations across the country. NPR is an independent, nonprofit membership organization of separately licensed and operated public radio stations across the United States. NPR produces and distributes news, information, and cultural programming across broadcast and digital platforms. It has more than 1,000 member and affiliate stations. NPR is principally funded by member stations, distribution services, underwriting and institutional grants, and individual contributions. How is CPB funded?
CPB is a private nonprofit corporation that is fully funded by the federal government. Ninety-five percent of CPB’s appropriation goes directly to local public media stations, content development, community services, and other local station and system needs. Less than 5% is allocated to administrative costs – an exceptionally low overhead rate compared with other nonprofits.

If federal funding is severely reduced or eliminated, cuts to jobs, programming and community-based services would be imminent. The result: public media would cease to exist. Rural, island, and tribal communities would face the most severe consequences. Lifesaving alerts and warnings if funding was eliminated. This would result in a grave situation for communities facing severe weather conditions, AMBER alerts, and other crises. 70 million people live without a credible source of local news. Access to the undeserved children and families, ability to develop educational programming, and offer local educators classroom resources and professional certifications would diminish.
