About

MsConcerned

As an Ambassador, writer, journalist, educator, and former Marine, I have a passion for exploring the world and sharing my experiences with others. I enjoy writing about politics, social issues, and anything else that captures my attention. I constantly seek ways to improve myself and others through reading, spirituality, prayer, and engaging in conversations with individuals of differing views and opinions. My goal is to share my concerns positively and encouragingly. As an African American woman and mother of an extraordinary daughter, she has become the reason for my existence. I strive to encourage, love, and embrace her life. I love her more than words can express, appreciating her nonjudgmental behavior towards me. I am a devout follower of Christ and deeply concerned about the “Human Condition.”

Social Justice

The phrase “social justice” represents a profound commitment to the principles of equity, fairness, and human rights. It embodies a belief in a society where individuals, regardless of their background, have access to the same opportunities and are treated with dignity and respect. Advocating for social justice means challenging systemic inequalities and disparities that persist in various social institutions, such as education, healthcare, and the criminal justice system. It signifies not only an awareness of injustice but also a proactive stance to combat it through advocacy, education, and collective action.

Social justice is not a singular issue but encompasses a broad spectrum of causes I am concerned about, including racial equality, gender equity, economic justice, and environmental sustainability. I have found my support for social justice is often immersed in a tapestry of movements, each interconnected in the pursuit of a more equitable world.  By standing for social justice, I demand accountability {or at least provide awareness) and transformative change from institutions and individuals alike.

Moreover, standing for social justice requires continuous self-reflection and a willingness to listen and learn. It is not about imposing my views but about fostering dialogue and understanding among diverse communities. This journey often involves recognizing one’s own privileges and biases (of which I must admit I have a few), striving to uplift the perspectives of those who are underserved, and creating inclusive spaces where everyone is heard. Ultimately, standing for social justice is an active commitment—one that I hope inspires others to envision and work towards a society where every person has the opportunity to thrive and live free from fear of discrimination or marginalization.

I am an African American woman and mother of one phenomenal daughter –   she is, has become the reason for my existence, I strive even through my limitations to encourage, love and embrace her life.  I love her more than words can say because of her nonjudgmental behavior she has shown to me – I’m not now nor have I ever been the perfect mom, but I strive to connect with her with the truth of who I am.  I am a lover of Christ and concerned about the “Human Condition.”

My life’s experience covers a gamut of good, bad, and sometimes intensely ugly.  Currently, writing a book on my life, titled, A Bus Ride to Freedom – One Woman’s Journey.  Freedom, what is it how can one attain it, measure it, feel it, and share it with others so that they may also reap the benefits?  My journey will be told through my book.
